Overview

LED walls are now a standard component of corporate events, general sessions, concerts, and experiential productions. Understanding how they work, how they fail, and how to manage them on site is no longer optional for video and production technicians who want to work at a professional level. This two-day course covers LED fundamentals from the ground up: pixel pitch, resolution, mapping, processing, content specifications, and the field workflows that keep LED productions running cleanly. It is built for technicians who want to walk onto an LED show with fewer surprises and more answers.

Career Level

Entry-Level to Mid-Level: This course is designed for technicians at any stage who work with or near LED systems. No prior LED experience is required.

What You'll Learn

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

• Understand pixel pitch, resolution, and how they relate to content and viewing distance.

• Map and configure LED panels through a processor for a live production environment

• Operate Novastar processing systems for LED wall management.

• Apply content specifications and communicate them clearly to content teams.

• Manage signal flow from the source through the processor to the LED wall.

• Coordinate effectively with LED technicians, video engineers, and content teams on site.

• Identify and troubleshoot common LED issues during setup and live operation.

A Day in Class

Both days are hands-on with real LED hardware: panels, processors, and the full signal chain from source to wall. Participants work through structured exercises covering setup, configuration, and live operation, with instructor-guided walkthroughs of the decision-making process at each stage. Day one builds the foundational knowledge; day two applies it in more complex scenarios. Instructors review participants' work throughout and provide direct feedback on configuration choices, troubleshooting approaches, and show-site workflows.

What You Leave With

Participants receive an AVE General LED Training certificate of completion along with reference materials covering content specs, processor workflows, and common troubleshooting scenarios. This course is designed so that participants leave knowing how to approach an LED show, not just how to follow instructions someone else set up.

Reducing Risk

LED systems are expensive, visible, and unforgiving when something is wrong. Pixel failures, mapping errors, content spec mismatches, and processor misconfigurations are all problems that show up on screen in front of the audience. Technicians with formal LED training set up faster, catch problems earlier, and communicate more effectively with the rest of the production team when issues arise.
