PTZ 101 & 102: INTRO TO PAN • TILT • ZOOM CAMERAS

CLASS OVERVIEW

This two-day, hands-on training is built for AV professionals who want real, show-ready fundamentals in PTZ camera operation for corporate and live events. You’ll trade the tripod for a joystick and learn how to frame, move, and manage PTZ cameras with purpose—so your shots feel smooth, intentional, and consistent. AV Educate partners with Instructor Jason Liermann and Digerati Productions to EQUIP beginner-to-intermediate students with practical PTZ skills you can use immediately on gigs.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

• PTZ Fundamentals: Pan, tilt, zoom, focus, and exposure basics

• Framing & Composition: Building clean shots that match the show’s style

• Movement Control: Speed ramps, smooth starts/stops, and natural camera motion

• Presets & Recall: Creating, labeling, and using presets like a pro

• PTZ Workflows for Live Events: Operator habits, timing, and communication on shows.

• PTZ 101 this class basically takes the mystery away from how to find and manipulate the ip addresses of the PTZs in order to connect them to the remote. 

  By the end of this class you will be able to quickly set up a PTZ to be used in a breakout setting.

• PTZ 102 we will dive deep into the internal  menus of the camera itself. How to shade and paint the cameras. 

  How to safely hang the PTZs from a truss.
